Graduates from the Elementary Education Program with a 3.0 GPA in the major and a 2.75 overall GPA will meet the entrance requirements of La Verne’s Teaching Credentialing Program.

Steps to Becoming an Elementary School Teacher
- Complete a bachelor’s degree. The BSR/CBEST and BSR/CSET can now be satisfied by the successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Complete Teaching Credential Program prerequisites as an undergraduate: public speaking, American Government, and Health Education.
- Complete a state-approved Teaching Credential Program, including Student Teaching.
- Pass the Teaching Performance Assessments and the Literacy Performance Assessment after completing the reading methodology courses in the Teaching Credential Program.
